6 Rules of Advertising for Home Based Businesses or Direct Marketing

Why would you want to advertise? Most people who start their home based business never consider advertising until their “warm list” is either used up and their business is not into profit or they have gone through most of their list and the number of sign-ups so low and the rejections so high they realize it will not work this way.
That leaves them with two choices. Either buy leads, knowing those leads may have been sold several times before, or learn how to generate their own leads. Buying leads usually comes first because they don’t know how to advertise. But then making cold calls to people who have already been sold to several times easily can be a waste of time and money too.
So if you are determined to succeed in your business your only real alternative is to attract your own leads through advertising. The problem here is the competition. There are fierce, seasoned veterans competing on the advertising mediums. It can be very daunting for the beginner. Not to mention expensive.
But there are many amateurs out there also and a little training and research can go a long way towards helping you to stand out. It also would be prudent to get help from someone who has been there and done that. It may cost you a little for your education but learning skills will help you become a leader.
If you are to be successful in this industry you have no choice but to become a leader. There are no successful entrepreneurs who are followers. Every income leader in this business is continually working on their education and you have to start somewhere. So it might as well be in advertising since you are in the marketing business anyway.
So, the best advice for any home based business owner is to start their training and try to find the most efficient and inexpensive method of doing it. What better way than to use a funded proposal which, for home based businesses is a lead generation and marketing training system that you can use to earn money while you learn how to market your business through advertising?
In any event you will need to keep these six rules in mind to be successful in your advertising efforts. They have to do with the psychology of the business of selling and communicating. They will cause people to be attracted to you through your ads.
1. People are lazy. That is why technology is so fast. Nobody wants to wait around for slow machines. Everyone wants faster, easier, cheaper, better. Rich people are the laziest. It is their hatred of work that helps them to strive for easier and faster methods to earn money. Ironic isn’t it?
2. EVERY single thing a person spends money on whether it is food, shelter, clothes, entertainment, cars, houses, etc… and in fact every action a person takes right down to opening an email is based on two things. Avoiding pain or gaining pleasure. You spend money on shelter because you want to avoid the pain of sleeping on the ground AND you want the pleasure of sleeping where it is warm and you can keep you and yours safe.
3. Pleasure is nice but people will focus harder on avoiding pain. A lot of people fail in this business because of this idea. They are too scared to try something that makes them uncomfortable and are afraid to fail so they won’t do what it takes to succeed. They think it will be painful if they step outside of the box and that worries them more than the pleasure they can gain from succeeding. This causes them to generate excuses to not take actions needed to succeed.
4. If you expose someone’s pain and offer a solution, they are wired to want that solution because they will do almost anything to avoid pain. Just like getting burned, it is a survival instinct to pull back.
5. People will buy hope or solutions for their problems because they would rather learn how to do something than actually implementing it or applying it. That is why most people have stuff on their shelves that has never been used even though they bought it for a specific reason.
6. When most people see what they cannot have, it makes them want it more. That is why leaders attract a following. People are drawn towards leaders who have what they want.
Throughout history people have even given their lives to gain access to leaders. Becoming a person of value through education will transform you into a leader and cause people to be attracted to you. So, learn copywriting, advertising, marketing, etc… and start helping others and people will be drawn to you no matter what business you are in.
