The Secret to Making Money in a Home Based Business

The secret is to learn how to market well enough to educate your prospects so they sell themselves or they think it is their idea to buy your product or opportunity. You have to make them think it was their idea because nobody likes being sold to. You know it’s true.
How often do you buy things from a door-to-door salesman, telemarketer, or someone selling on the street corner? If you are like me the answer is not very often if ever. That is why it is so hard for most people to succeed in the direct marketing or home based business.
It is a whole industry of people who know nothing about selling things and they are instructed to get out there and sell the wrong product to people who can’t stand to be sold to. Most of the time when a new marketer struggles and asks their sponsor for advice they are told to think about their “why” and get out there and do more of what hasn’t been working already.
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result? If you went through 100 personal contacts and signed up 3 or 4 of them and couldn’t get any of them to work as hard as you, why would you continue to go down that path? Was it fun getting those 96 or 97 rejections?
You can either become a tenacious and competitive work-a-holic and spend years learning to become a master at recruiting or learn and practice the principles of attraction marketing and start earning money now. Oh yeah, and working hard is no guarantee that you will succeed. If that were all it took you would see a lot of construction workers out there driving Porsches.
You can work hard for years and not get where you want to be if you don’t work on the right things. One definite is you will have to become a leader and that is something that is decided between the ears. It starts with an attitude and is continued with education. Knowing one thing positions you in the leadership role for those who don’t know.
So if you are to make money in this industry you must learn things that people need to know and you must work smart. It is not enough to learn it you have to apply it. The first thing to learn is how to become a leader which is really just a decision you must make. Then to be a practicing attraction marketer you have to just help anyone and everyone who asks for help.
You also have to remember these simple ground rules. First, everyone hates to be sold to and the best way to sell anything is to make them think it was their idea to buy it. Second, unless you have a salesman’s personality, you cannot sell stuff. Third, the product or service your company has is not what your prospects want.
What they really want is to make money. They want financial freedom and your company is just a vehicle to get them there. That is what every business is because nobody likes to work. If you had enough to live off of the way you wanted to live you would not need to work.
Attraction marketers learn how to draw people to them and to position themselves where anyone who is looking for what they have can find them. What they advertise is what their target market wants, solutions for their problems.
The targets and solutions are: those who need the solution your product has or want your opportunity, those who are using a similar product, those who are working in another home based business and struggling, those who have failed in the industry before or want to try the business as a second source of income.
Attraction marketers figure out how to succeed in this industry and advertise that solution first. Those who find that value and apply it qualify themselves and prove they are worthy of joining your business. Then you are only trying to promote your opportunity to interested and qualified prospects which makes your job easy.
